But as Chat is predominantly a business-focused solution that is now being tailored to the “average” user that is sort of to be expected at this point. Having barely used either service apart from a couple of occasions, I have no stake in this, but I’ll admit that it’s sad to see what seems like a feature-rich service be replaced by something that doesn’t quite stack up at this stage in terms of feature set. While we don’t condone review-bombing the listing, some of the one-star Google Chat reviews and complaints are genuine in nature, especially as many features Hangouts users love have yet to be added to its replacement. Google just made an update for its iOS users but with an attached warning. Use the Google Meet app to join a video call, or join audio-only by calling the dial-in number in the meeting invite. It now seems that the surge is having a toll on the app. Its video calling service, Google Hangouts has silently but surely been gaining traffic lately with over 2 million users additional global users in a day. Well, it seems Google has been having a share of the pie as well. This means that we can access the application either from a browser, computer or mobile phone. Even Microsoft’s Skype wanted some of the fun by bringing in some changes to try and lure in users. This platform it can work practically, on any device.
The likes of Zoom and Houseparty have had their fill of traffic on a daily basis. As hundreds of millions are forced to self-isolate and stay at home, it is clear by now that video calling apps have become quite famous.
